The RCIC for Children and Teens is a process whereby children who have reached the age of reason may request to receive the sacraments of initiation—Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation—from the Church. They spend time in study, prayer and worship so they are able to discern if they would like to receive the sacraments.
Each child/teen will need a Sponsor to walk this journey with them. The sponsor is required to be a practicing Catholic who has received the sacraments of initiation and if married, married in the Church. They are required to attend all of the rehearsals and liturgies. If the sponsor is unable to attend a proxy may step in for those rehearsals and liturgies.
The Journey to the Sacraments for children and teens (8 years and older)
We meet weekly on Fridays from September – Easter, 5:00pm – 6:00pm in the Pastoral Center for Faith Formation. In addition to meeting on Friday’s sessions, children with their parents and Godparents/Sponsors are asked to attend required liturgies.
While we cannot meet in person yet due to COVID-19 regulations, the ministry has adapted to virtual instruction and will be temporarily accessible from home. Please contact the Parish Office for more information and an updated schedule as it may change.
